NeilSmellie: Is it possible to change a job to a lead and have the lead still associate with the customer
The process to convert a customer to a lead is not automatic and would require a fair amount of exporting/importing and editing your lists in excel to acheive this. The most important thing to be aware of is that any customer:jobs with transactions will not be deleted from QuickBooks - this action is not allowed.
Here's an overview of the process:
- First export the customer table using our import/export tool from Customize > Integration Tools.
- You'll want to take all the records with ParentFullName field filled in and move them to a new excel file (calling it leads), keeping the same layout.
- In the new excel file clean up the all the columns you're not using and delete columns like RecordID, IsLeadStatus, EntityType, LeadConvertedDate, etc. You'll want to have just the contact information for the record in your clean leads file. Keep the ParentFullName and ParentFullName_RecordID columns as those will associate the records with their Parent contacts.
- Once you have a the clean list of leads associated to their ParentFullName records go to QuickBooks and delete those customer:jobs.
- After syncing those customer:jobs should be out of your customer list and gone from your QuickBooks file.
- From the import/export tools import your leads list to the Customer Lead table. This part is important as it will flag these records as leads.
I highly recommend you consider booking time with one of our
consultants to help you through this process (or complete it for you).
If you decide to tackle this yourself test the process
thoroughly on small lists and review our
