    Identifying Method Orders

Is there a field in the Invoice table that I can use to identify orders that are created in Method (as opposed to ones in QB)? What is the "TxnMethodFlag"field?

    Answer

    Hi Mike,

The TxnMethodFlag field is a text field that can be used to "flag" transactions using whatever the user would like. So if the you want to use this field to mark Method only transactions, you can certainly do so.

    Re: Identifying Method Orders

OK, so I added the field to the desktop and mobile screens that we have. I made it hidden and set the defalt value to "Method".

It works on the desktop version, but in the mobile version I get an error message saying this:

"Cannot save values for TxnMethodFlag. Field ‘TxnMethodFlag’allows a maximum of 31 characters, whereas you’ve entered 33 characters.

    Additional information

    Action sequence order: 5"

But I'm just putting the word "Method" in the field. Any idea what's going on here? Is the field name/label a part of this error?

    Thanks

OK, so I changed the flag to "Y", and it worked, but when I exported the Invoice table to Excel, the following information was populated in the TXNMethodFlag field:

    <span class="pspan">Y</span>

That's why it's going over 31 characters, but I don't know why that gibberish surrounds the "Y".

The value populated from the desktop screeen (earlier) is "Method". How can I make the mobile field behave the same and just contain the typed-in default text?

Update: Well, it appears that the extra stuff in the field happens when I make it "Read-only". Is that a common thing, or a bug? I took off the "Read-only" option and I just saw a "Y".

I have been unable to replicate it, I turned read-only on and off but the field always shows the correct text value. How are you updating the value in this field? Is it done through actions after pressing a button, or are you typing in the flag value into another field on the screen then updating the table through actions? If you're using the latter option and it's a text field is the Show in HTML editor option enabled?

    Re: Identifying Method Orders

The field is hidden and the default value is set to the word "Method" (without quotes. That's it - there's no other population of the field. That way, every invoice in Method will have a flag on it, as opposed to ones created in QuickBooks.

The "Show in HTML Editor Option" is not checked.

    Answer

    Mike,

I was able to replicate this issue and created a ticket for our dev team to investigate it. We'll update this thread ASAP. This only happens when the field is set to read-only, so if you want to show the value to the user creating/editing an invoice then I would suggest having two separate fields on the screen, one being the TxnMethodFlag set as hidden with the default value as Method, and the other field being a text object set to read only. Use the Retrieve Value From Screen and Enter Value Into Field On Screen actions to show the Method flag in the read-only text object.
