Ability to Hide Fields on per user role basis?

I have been in process of doing a bunch of customization and need certain fields hidden as they need to be read only for admin.  In method gives you option to do so.  But it does not seem to work. I just noticed this "(Note: although you can set the view permissions for this control, this is not yet fully functional, but will be available in a future release of method)"

My question is why even add this feature if it can't be used as I did alot of work creating fields I needed hidden before seeing the above?  Second question is when will this be available and is there a way if not available to get it beta?

    Answer

    Hi Shane,

Right now the ability to hide is enabled for Tabs, Tab Links, and buttons. So objects such as Text fields will not have this enabled until we release the new version of our screen designer next year.

What about making UI objects read-only based on roles?

Blake C that is what I eneded up doing.  Would be nice to hide but works in accomplishing my main goal in keeping users from altering field.

    Thanks
