We received the following question by email from James:
I have sales people that I am trying to figure out how to assign customers to. How do I assign a customer to a sales person so that other sales people can not have access to that customer or set of customers? Or said another way how do we control Sales person "A" from seeing or gaining access to sales person "B" customer / territory list?
Hi James,
You can assign specific customers to your Method users who have QuickBooks Sales Reps linked to them. To link a QuickBooks Sales Rep to a Method User go to Customize > Users > scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click Edit... for the user you wish to link. Locate the Link to Employee/Vendor/OtherName (SalesRep): option and select the Sales Rep from the dropdown list. *Note: QuickBooks Sales Reps have initials display in brackets after their name, e.g. Joe Smith (JS1). If you don't find the Sales Rep on that list then you'll need to add them in QuickBooks and perform a Full Sync.
Second step is to restrict the records that each user has access to. Again we'll need to edit the user settings by going to Customize > Users > Edit... > click Next until you reach Step 6 of 10: Access to Shared Records and ensure the Share All Records option is not checked. Now you'll need to set the appropriate Sharing settings for this user. *Note: This step will need to be performed for every user in your Method account.
