Report: Estimates and Opportunities

    Report: Estimates and Opportunities

    For the purposes of forecasting demand so that we can accurately purchasing items I need a report that shows  the following.

    - All open estimates

    - The products and QTY listed on those estimates

    - The probability of those estimates closing and when

    Right now as far as I can tell the probability data is in the opportunity, but the information about the products are in the estimate.  So how can I get a report that contains the combination of that data.

    To create reports you can download our Report Designer here if you haven't already.

    By default, estimates are not linked to opportunities. You could start by adding the opportunity number (RecordID) as a drop down field into the Estimate table. If you then add the field to your estimate screen, you'll be able to choose which opportunity an estimate is linked toRemember that opportunities don't have to be estimates. They could be anything from a current customer casually asking about a new product, to a lead about to close a deal. Once the opportunity number is added to the Estimate table you can link other fields from the Opportunity table such as the OpportunityStage and the ProbabilityPercent. 

    In the Report Designer, you can edit the stock Estimate(Custom) or SimpleEstimate reports (remember to edit a copy of the report to keep the stock one intact), or create a brand new report from scratch. For some help with the Report Designer, we have some useful webinars here and here

    Brian, 

    To edit the post above, it turns out opportunities are already linked to the Estimate table by default. If you look at the Customers>Estimates screen you'll see the option to link an opportunity. See my screenshot below. 

    You will still need to add linked fields from the Opportunity table into the Estimate table. To do this, go to Customize>Tables/Fields and click Edit Fields... on your Estimate table. You'll see the option to add a linked field. In your case, you should be linking OpportunityStage and ProbabilityPercentLet me know if you have any more questions!

    When I go to download report designer--- it just goes into my download folder and this error message pops up

    'There is no default application specified to open the document “MethodReportDesigner.application”.

    It then requests I pick an application to launch the file.

    This program will only work in a Windows environment. Are you using Windows?
