Suggestions for Multiple Business Owning Customers

We have several customers that own multiple businesses that we service (e.g. conveniece stores). Many of them pay from different accounts with different business names and addresses but all of their bills from us go to one central office. When we were just using Quickbooks, we could accomodate that by having one customer (one billing address) with multiple ship to addresses. We cannot do this with Method as it only allows one ship to address per customer. If we create multiple customers with different business names (i.e. 1. John Smith, Super Save#1 Gas, Address 1, 555-1234, smith@email.com; 2. John Smith, Super Save #2 Gas, Address 2, 555-1234, smith@email.com, etc), then we run into a different problem in Method because when we send estimates and invoices through the contact portal, a different portal link will be created with each of the different contacts. It doesn't seem to matter that all of the contact information is the same, name, email, and all. (I understand this is probably a fundamental property of contact portals for security reasons). This means that my customer will not be able to see all of his estimates and invoices in one portal but will have to go to a separate portal for each one of his businesses. This means he'll have to juggle between different portal links, which could easily get confusing and accidentally deleted in email. Tongue Tied

Any idea how to circumvent this problem? I'm new to Method and really trying to get it setup so we can actually start using it to accomodate all of our customers.

    Thanks!!!

Re: Suggestions for Multiple Business Owning Customers

OK, I did a search of the forum after doing a little reading and was able to get some results related to my question. Looks like this was asked by a few people, and the thread by viret56 shed some light on the topic. I'll need to make a custom table and screen to add multiple ship to address to a customer.

I was able to duplicate what they did by creating a table almost identical to that found at the end of their thread. I just need a little guidance going from there. Viret56 made a custom pop up screen. I'd like to know how you go about integrating that into existing screens to call the pop up screen, allowing me to enter a new ship to address or select between exiting ones. I guess this would need to be in the customer's edit screen and all related screens for invoicing purposes (estimates, sales orders, invoices, receive payment, credit memo, and slaes receipt).

I don't think I'll have any problem actually creating the new pop up screen to input these new ship to address but rather integrating that pop up with existing screens. Any advice would be tremendously helpful!

    Hello Ryan,
        Sorry for the late reply.

To go back to the multiple shipping addresses.  Customers have setup different shipping addresses as Job of Customers under one main customer. (Job of Customers is found under the Additional Info tab in the Edit Customer screen.) In the portal, they customized the screen so instead of just showing their transactions, they can see the transactions for the Job of Customers as well.  There is a filter on the grid that allows you only to see the immediate company's transactions and no one else's.

For the pop-up you can use the Show Screen Pop Up action in a button.  It will allow you to choose a screen to appear in the popup.  The custom table is a good idea if you do need to store several shipping addresses to a customer.  The table can hold addresses and have a relationship to a customer.  Therefore, your popup appears and gets the customer name from a Shared Result (that you set in the main screen) and it can display the addresses on file in the grid.  You select the address you want and click a button that stores the selected record values in Shared Results and inputs them into the shipping address on the main screen.

         I hope this helps,

              Greg

I appreciate that Jim, by the way does it also works for budget management? some sort of quickbook plans for all your expenses, savings and earnings.. not so much that familiar with Method so I am kinda not aware of everything.
