Email test failed

    Email test failed

    I did a quick search and noticed some other email issues.  I am getting an issue when setting up my default SMTP:

    server2400.bigcommerce.com - username, password, and SSL using port 465 - same settings in Outlook  

    I get this message:

    The test email failed to send. Your settings have not been saved. Please edit the settings and try again. Here is the response we received from your email server:

    The operation has timed out.


    If I used Gmail instead, would it look like my emails were coming from a gmail account?  I'd rather them be from my dot com account.

    Hello industrialrobotix,

         This is something you can contact Method support to help you out. The number is 1-888-925-6238 x2. It's hard to diagnose over the forums because it usually involves trying different combonations until it works.  My guess by looking at your credentials is that either the server name is wrong or the server isn't allowing the SSL connection.  As an example, GoDaddy email accounts usually have an issue with SSL connections from third-party sources.

        If you do set it up the account's default email preferences with your Gmail account, emails will appear to be sent from the account.  Remember to you can link emails to individual Method users.  Go to Customize -> Users -> Edit... for the user in question.   On Step 2: Email Setup, there will be an option to Use default email server settings?. Uncheck it and put in the email credentials.  Now the user will have their own emails sent through their email address.

    Ok thanks.  For now I'm just using my gmail SMTP, but I will contact support.

    Really liking this software more every day.
