    Associate Vendor to Opportunity

I've tried this a hundred different ways to Sunday and either there is a bug or I'm doing something wrong (probably the latter).  I am attempting to add a Vendor dropdown to the opportunity screen.  Ultimately, I want to pull in the Vendor FullName field.

I added a Vendor dropdown field to the Opportunity table.  Chose an existing table, selected Contacts as the table, Text Field:RecordID (that is the only available choice).  But, I really want FullName.

I read through as many forum posts as I could.  One said maybe I had a NULL value or duplicates.  When I click on "Required" checkbox, it gives me a message that I cannot make it a required field as there are currently NULL entries in the table.  I exported the customer list and did a pivot report to make sure there were no NULL values or duplicates and there were not.  Interestingly, clicking on Contacts field REQUIRED does not give me the same message even though it's the same table.

    Thoughts?

Again what I'm trying to do is put a vendor dropdown on the opportunity screen that will retrieve FullNames from the contacts table.  Then I will filter the results for EntityType = Vendor; isActive = Yes, etc.  And then on save post that field back to the opportunity table.

    Shawn-

If you are just looking for the Vendor FullName why not add the field into the table from the Vendor table? If you add it directly from the Vendor table into the Opportunity table as a drop down it will let you select FullName.

I actually tried that too and again this morning after your suggestion.  I added a dropdown field to the Opportunity table called Vendor with Field:FullName.  Then editing the CRMQBO_EditOpportunity_GPS screen, I added the filed to the layout.  When I click on Edit for that field to add filters, actions, etc. I get the following popup message:

An error has occurred. An email has been sent to Method staff. If this problem persists, please contact the Method Team at method@methodintegration.com.

If I ignore that error and proceed, when I get to step 4, I get it again.  If I ignore there, all my dropdown options are NULL.

    Hi Shawn-

I just tried it to and it worked in my account. If you enable MethodSupport (Customize > Users) and email me your account name I can take a look at why you are getting that error message.

This should now be resolved what i did was regenerate the table for Vendor and Opportunity (This is done by clicking Edit Fields… for those tables and then Finished Editing Fields.

Sorry, didn't know that would regenerate.  Got it and it's working beautifully.
