    Inactive Items

    When creating quotes/workorders/invoices, how can we prevent inactive items from popping up in the item list?  This has been an issue.  Thank you.

    Hi Don,

    The corresponding stock screens already contain filters for this. They are located under the Advanced Properties of the Item field on the grid. Here is the advanced properties for the Item field on the EstimateLine grid on the Estimates screen.

    I just tried that, but it still shows the deleted items/inactive items.

    Deleted/Inactive Item Issue


    I'm trying to keep these items from popping up when generating new quote/workorder/invoice.  Please advise.

    Hi Don,

    I didn’t take into consideration that this filter may differ on a Method for QBO account.

    As you can see, there is an additional filter, but the idea is the same. You just need to have a look at the stock screens and copy the filters settings on to your custom screens. Alternatively, you could make a copy of the stock screen and perform your customizations on the copy. That way the filters are already in place.

    Either way, you will notice that the stock screens do in fact filter out inactive items. You just need to implement the same filters on your custom screens to do the same. I hope this helps.

    Can you post a screen shot of your filters so that I can take a look? What’s the name of the screen that you are developing?

    1. In the beginning, this was the issue with the Estimate which has caused some issues at times:

    There weren't much customization to the estimate screens, so I deleted them to start all over.  I followed the prompts as instructed in this thread, then I started getting a new issue:

    After trouble shooting, I found what seems to be the problem:

    I get prompted to put an item in before I close and this is the only choice I have.  Please advise.

    Hi Don,

    Thanks for including these screen shots, they were actually quite helpful. First off, I didn’t realize that you were referring to the scheduling and invoicing screens. By the looks of it, these screens don’t include the same active filter that the standard screens do, so you will need to add it, even on a fresh copy.

    Second, it looks like their may have been some minor corruption on your Item table. This was causing the field ParentFullName field to be selectable instead of FullName field. I regenerated the Item table on your account and this seems to have resolved the issue.

    Give this another shot and post back to let me know if this is resolved. I hope this helps.
