Method Integration Engine v1.0.196 update

A minor update was pushed out today.

  • The Method Integration Engine and Method Listener have been signed with new application certificates.  The previous ones were due to expire in mid-April 2011.  What are application certificates?  Besides being a cash-grab for companies like VeriSign and Thawte, they have a legitimate purpose of verifying that the software program accessing your QuickBooks file is coming from a real company operated by real people.
  • It appears that a recent QuickBooks update has created a bug in the QuickBooks SDK.  When Method requests open purchase orders on a company file that has no purchase orders ever entered, QuickBooks now gives a visual message stating "No Purchase orders on which to report", which it should never do, instead of giving the message silently back to Method. To work around this, an extra check has been put in to check to see if any purchase orders exist prior to requesting a list of open purchase orders from QuickBooks.

To get the update either:

or

  • Wait for a few days.  After 3 days of opening and closing the Method Integration Engine, the engine will eventually check for an update and install it.
