"More" feature for tabs and tab links, new 2 year sync option
The following updates are now available on the "January" version of Method.
- Tabs and tab Links have a "More" feature - If you have many tabs, or many tab links under a tab, you have probably seen them wrap onto a 2nd line. This can be ugly, and also take up valuable screen real estate. So now, instead of wrapping onto a new line, a "More" feature is displayed, which gives access to the hidden tabs and tab links.
- 2 year history sync option -
QB Online users need not be concerned, since all history is synced with QB Online. However, users of QuickBooks Desktop now have an option for a 730 day sync history (i.e. 2 years). Previously there was nothing in between 1 year and ALL. You can set this under QuickBooks > Synchronize. Note: always limit the amount of data you sync. Syncing unnecessary data can slow down the use of QuickBooks during a Full Sync.
Enjoy,
Paul

Read-only pictures, two new display palettes
The following update are now available on the "January" version of Method.
- Display Palettes - You now have "Method Blue" and "Method Teal" standard displays options under Customize > Display.
- Read-only pictures - You can now edit a picture or attachment object and mark it as read-only. This allows you to prevent your users from creating new uploads or edits to existing uploads.
Enjoy,
Paul

QuickBooks Invoice
- Fixed (#3164) - when clicking Print > Print Selected or Print > Print All, an error message was appearing. This was a result of the “Generate Report” action pointing to the wrong default template. We’ve now updated this to point to the correct template. (QBO)

New Activity
- New - the left panel which displays the lead/customer/vendor/employee and contact info now has a click-able header. Clicking on the header will launch the edit lead/customer/vendor/employee and edit contact screens. Previously you could access these screens by clicking the “More actions” button but this is a quicker way to access the same edit screens. (QBD & QBO)

Resolve Conflicts improvements
The following update are now available on the "January" version of Method.
- Resolve Conflicts - The More Info link now shows you more readable values from the conflicted record, instead of the raw values. For example, instead of showing you "CustomerRef=4", you now see "Customer=Bob Crenshaw, Customer_RecordID=4". This makes it much easier to locate which record has the actual conflict in Method.
- Resolve Conflicts - The More Info window is now twice the height as before.
- Resolve Conflicts - "Delete" has been relabeled to "Delete from Method".
- Resolve Conflicts - "Un-delete" has been relabeled to "Retry Sync to QB".
- Resolve Conflicts - A new option "Refetch from QB" has been added. This allows you to keep the existing record, but have the values from QuickBooks overwrite the values from Method. Your Method custom fields are preserved, as are any links from other tables to that record.
- Resolve Conflicts - "Clear" has been relabeled to "Clear / Ignore".
- Resolve Conflicts - A new legend appears at the top of the screen to explain each option.
Enjoy,
Paul

New Activity
- Improved - small cosmetic change with relabelling “Cancel/Close” to “Close”. (QBD & QBO)
- Improved - when opening an existing activity, if the “Start Date” is not filled in, we will automatically fill in the current date and time. Normally this is filled in anyway for a new activity however if someone manually deleted this, we now insert a date so it isn’t blank. This will also benefit the save actions since we calculate the duration for completed activities based on the difference between Start Date and Completed Date. (QBD & QBO)
- Fixed (#3084) - when launching the screen in a pop-up and closing, the screen in the background appears distorted. This was the result of using the “Go to Field” action after closing the pop-up window. (QBD & QBO)

Staging site, SmartVault beta, Intuit Account OpenID and a touch of style
- New "Staging" site - starting today, the latest version of Method is always "opt-in". We now have two production versions of Method for you to use. In additional to the usual "live" site, we now have a "staging" site. Next time you log into Method, check out the bottom of the login page. It now says "This is the December version | Switch to the January version".
- "Live" – currently named the "December version" - this version has gone through our testing, and through at least a week of real world use on the staging site. Benefit: more stable. Drawback: you don't get the latest features, and bug fixes.
- "Staging" - currently named the "January version" - this has just come out of quality assurance testing from our team. It is stable, but it has gone through only limited real-world use. Benefit: allows power users, administrators, consultants, and eager Methoders to run through business processes in Method before it gets released to the rest of the company. Drawback: you might find a new bug that nobody else has found.
- Multi-tenancy / franchise beta – franchises who are trying out the multi-tenancy beta (where multiple QuickBooks files sync to the same Method account), will be happy to see that the TenantID is now a dropdown list. This allows you to pick a franchisee by name, rather than by ID from a dropdown, as well as add linked fields to show the franchisee name in a grid.
- SmartVault beta - Method has partnered with SmartVault to provide an alternative to the standard "native" document management that comes built into Method. We’re using SmartVault’s new RestAPI for web apps – and it allowed us to make a really slick integration with them. SmartVault provides an intuitive, Web-based solution for users to store, view and share files securely any time and from anywhere. It also offers a unique plug-in for QuickBooks, creating a seamless user experience for scanning, attaching, and finding documents within a familiar application. To learn more, click here.
- Style – new buttons and tabs - You'll see some style changes when you sign into Method on the January version:
- All buttons are now using a new, more modern look. By default, buttons have a grey gradient, with a slight rounding to the edges. But under Customize > Display, you can change your default button style to be round, boxy, blue, green, whatever you want. Adjust it to make it fit your own color scheme.
- When customizing screens, you can now set different colors for each button on a screen. So maybe you want all your buttons grey by default, but the delete button should be bright red. Go for it!
- You'll see the tab links and tabs have been given a stylish, more modern look. We haven't changed the style of tabs and tab links since our prototype version years ago.....gulp - embarrassing to admit! And there's even more to come on the next release in a couple weeks.
- OpenID - sign into Method with your Intuit Account - The January version has something very exciting - we now let you use your Intuit Account to sign into Method! It's one less password that you have to remember - and since your Intuit user name is your email address, it’s a lot easier to remember one password than your Method Company Account, User Name and Password. Plus, if you have multiple Method accounts, the same Intuit Account can be used to log into all of them. To learn more, click here.
Enjoy,

QuickBooks Invoice
- Improved - changed styling for left section to match newer transaction screens. (QBD & QBO)
- Fixed (#3128) - when clicking Print > Customize Templates, you would get an error message about the pop-up screen missing. We’ve now updated this to point to the CRM_PreferencesReports screen. (QBD & QBO)
